Why use dot markers?
Dot markers are a fun and easy way for kids to create colorful artwork. They are perfect for little hands that may struggle with controlling regular markers or paint brushes. The thick barrel makes them easy to grip, and the spongy tip allows for smooth dot application without making a mess.
Dot markers encourage creativity and fine motor skill development in young children. Creating pictures by applying dots builds hand-eye coordination and pencil grip. The repetitive dotting motion also helps strengthen the small muscles in their hands, getting them ready for writing.
Where to buy dot markers from
You can find dot markers at most arts and crafts stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores. They are usually located in the kids’ art supplies section. Major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Amazon also carry a wide variety of dot marker sets.
When shopping, look for washable, non-toxic markers made specifically for kids. Popular brands include Do-A-Dot Art Markers, Arty Brush Dot Markers, and Ooly Dot Markers. Sets typically come with 4-8 bright colors and range from $5-$15 depending on the number of markers included.

My Favorite Items I Use For Printables
- Copy Paper & Cardstock: Depending on what project or worksheet I’m doing with my kids, I will always have copy paper and cardstock. Cardstock is more durable than copy paper.
- Crayons: Of course for coloring pages and other worksheets, I will always have crayons.
- Markers: Crayola’s washable markers are one of my favorites. The colors are vibrant and they easily wash off of my kids hands and my table if any accidental marks happen.
- Colored pencils: These can be used for more detailed coloring.
- Laminating pouches: For worksheets i want to use over and over i like to put them in laminating pouches.
- Laminating machine: If you use the laminating pouches, you will need a laminating machine to seal the pouch.
