Planning a football birthday party? If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that kids don’t care if everything matches the theme. They just want something they can grab, eat, and get right back to playing.

I usually keep the food pretty simple. Pizza, a few snacks on the table, something sweet for dessert, and plenty of drinks. It keeps everyone happy, and I’m not stuck in the kitchen while everyone else is having fun.

If you’re looking for a few ideas, these are the foods I’d put on the table.

Football Birthday Party Food Ideas

Mini Freezer Friendly Vegan Pizzas

This is probably the first thing I’d make. They’re the perfect size for kids, nobody is asking you to cut slices in half, and you can make them ahead of time. When everyone’s starting to get hungry, just bake them and set them on the table.

Vegan Cheeze-Its

I always put these out first. That way the kids have something to snack on while everyone is still arriving. By the end of the party the bowl is usually empty.

Vegan Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies

I like making the mini cookies instead of giant ones. The kids can grab one while they’re running around, and if they’re still hungry later they can always come back for another. I usually make a double batch because they disappear fast.

Vegan Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

If I’m putting regular cookies on the dessert table, these are usually the ones I make. You can bake them the night before and they’re ready to go when the party starts.

Vegan Cosmic Brownies

These always seem to disappear before anything else on the dessert table. I cut them into smaller squares so they’re easier for little hands to grab, and it keeps the mess down too.

Easy Vegan Strawberry Cupcakes

I’ll choose cupcakes over a big birthday cake almost every time. Everyone gets their own, there’s nothing to slice, and cleanup is so much easier. If you want them to match the party, just add green frosting or football cupcake toppers.

Vegan Rice Krispie Treats

If you have a football cookie cutter, this is a fun place to use it. If not, just cut them into squares. I honestly don’t think the kids will care either way.

Vegan No-Bake Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars

These are one of my favorite make-ahead desserts. Once they’re chilled, all you have to do is cut them into little squares and put them on a serving tray.

Fruit Tray

I always like having something fresh on the table too. Most kids head straight for the sweets, but parents usually appreciate seeing some fruit mixed in. If you’re short on time, just grab a tray from the grocery store and call it done.

I usually buy a fruit tray from the grocery store to save time, but if you’re putting one together yourself, a divided serving tray (like this one from amazon) keeps everything looking neat and makes it easy for people to grab what they want.

Popcorn

I always make more popcorn than I think I’ll need because it goes fast. The nice thing is it’s inexpensive, so making another batch isn’t a big deal if you run out.

I like putting popcorn into individual paper popcorn boxes instead of one big bowl. The kids can grab one and walk around with it, and there’s a lot less reaching into the same bowl all afternoon.

Chips and Dip

This is one thing I never overthink. Grab a couple bags of chips, your favorite dip, and you’re done. It always gets eaten.

If you’re decorating for the party anyway, a football-shaped chip and dip tray is a fun little touch. It’s one of those things you can pull out for football parties or game day every year.

Pretzels

Pretzels are another easy snack that disappears before you know it. Pour them into a bowl and let everyone help themselves.

Juice Boxes and Water

I stopped pouring drinks at birthday parties a long time ago. Juice boxes and bottled water are so much easier, and the kids can grab what they need without asking every five minutes.

Birthday Cake

Don’t feel like you have to make an elaborate football cake unless you really enjoy baking. I’ve seen plenty of grocery store cakes disappear just as fast as homemade ones. The birthday candles are usually what everyone remembers anyway.

If you’re making cupcakes instead of a big cake, football cupcake toppers are an easy way to make them look themed without spending a lot of extra time decorating.

Make Planning Easier

One thing that’s helped me over the years is having something ready while everyone’s waiting for cake, presents, or the next game to start. I usually print a few pages from our Football Party Game Bundle and leave them on the table. The kids almost always start playing without anyone having to organize it, which gives the adults a chance to catch their breath for a few minutes.
