Halloween charades is an easy game to pull out when you have a group of kids and need something everyone can play. There’s not much to set up, and once they get started, they usually come up with much funnier ways to act things out than you could have planned.

You can use these Halloween charades ideas for a classroom party, Halloween party at home, family game night, or just something fun to do in October. I put together 75 ideas below, with plenty of easy ones for younger kids and some harder ones to make the game more interesting.

How to Play Halloween Charades

Write the Halloween charades words on small pieces of paper, fold them up, and put them in a bowl.

One person picks a word and acts it out without talking or making sounds. Everyone else tries to guess what it is.

For a bigger group, split everyone into two teams. Give each player about 30 seconds or one minute to get their team to guess correctly. Each correct answer earns a point.

You don’t have to keep score, though. With younger kids, I’d probably just let everyone take turns and keep playing.

Halloween Charades for a Classroom

If you’re using these in a classroom, I’d split the class into teams instead of having everyone yell guesses at once.

Have one student from the first team come up and choose a charade. Start a timer and give their team a chance to guess. Then switch teams.

You can also skip the competition completely and have the whole class guess. That works well if you’re filling the last 10 or 15 minutes before dismissal or a Halloween party.

For younger elementary students, stick mostly with the easy words and actions. Older kids will probably have more fun with things like a vampire afraid of the dark or a witch who can’t fly her broom.

Turn It Into a Halloween Party Game

For a Halloween party, put all 75 ideas in a bowl and let everyone choose randomly.

You can make each correct answer worth one point or set a timer and see how many each team can get through in one minute.

Another option is to play several quick rounds. Do an easy round first, then Halloween actions, funny charades, and finally the harder spooky ones.

That keeps you from having one team pull five easy words while the other team somehow ends up acting out an entire haunted house scene.

Make Your Own Halloween Charades Cards

You don’t need anything fancy to play. Cut regular paper into small rectangles and write one charade on each piece.

If you’re making cards for younger kids, you could also draw a little picture next to the word so they don’t need help reading it.

I’d make the easy cards one group and the harder cards another. That way you can choose which set makes sense depending on who’s playing instead of sorting through all 75 every time.
